Overview

The Indian Institute of Public Health Gandhinagar (IIPHG) is committed to promoting equitable access to quality public health education. The University offers a range of scholarships and fellowship opportunities to support meritorious and financially deserving students pursuing postgraduate and doctoral programmes in public health and Hospital Administration.

These initiatives aim to nurture future public health and healthcare administration leaders, researchers, and practitioners who can contribute meaningfully to public health system, healthcare sector, policy, and community well-being.

Scholarships Offered

  1. P & G Health Scholarship: The P & G Health Scholarship is a merit-cum-need based scholarship established by Procter & Gamble Health Limited in partnership with the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) to support students pursuing postgraduate studies in public health. It aims to encourage talented students—especially those from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds—to build careers in public health, helping address the shortage of trained public health professionals in India.
  2. Emmes Scholarship Fund: The Emmes Scholarship Fund is a financial support programme under the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) designed to encourage and support students pursuing careers in public health — especially through the Master of Public Health (MPH) programmes offered at Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) located in Delhi NCR (Gurgaon), Gandhinagar (Gujarat), Hyderabad (Telangana), Shillong (Meghalaya) and Bhubaneswar (Odisha). It aims to promote careers in public health by reducing financial barriers for students interested in the file, mentor scholars and encourage work in underserved and rural communities.
  3. P. G. Tulpule Scholarship Fund: The Dr. P. G. Tulpule Scholarship Fund is a scholarship established under the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) to encourage and support students pursuing careers in public health, especially with a focus on public health nutrition and allied areas. The aim is to motivate students to choose, pursue, and advance a career in public health, with a special emphasis on public health nutrition—a priority area given to India’s nutrition and health challenges.
  4. Institutional Scholarships (IIPHG Internal): IIPHG offers limited institutional scholarships to deserving students; approximately 25% of the admitted students are granted the award based on rigorous internal evaluation of academic merit and institutional criteria.
  5. Donor-Supported Scholarships: IIPHG gratefully acknowledges the generous contributions of the following donors, whose support has empowered students to excel academically and professionally:

Their continued support strengthens IIPHG’s mission of building a capable and compassionate public health workforce. 

  1. Government & Reserved Category Scholarships: IIPHG actively facilitates and supports students in availing scholarships offered by Central and State Governments of India. Eligible students are guided and supported to apply for various national and state-level scholarship schemes, including but not limited to:
  • Scholarships offered through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP)
  • State Government scholarship schemes for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and Minority communities
  • Scholarships for Persons with Disabilities (PwD)

IIPHG provides administrative and documentation support to eligible students for these schemes, subject to fulfilment of prescribed criteria and submission timelines as notified by the respective authorities.

  1. Fellowship Opportunities: While dedicated institutional fellowships are limited, students at IIPHG are eligible for external fellowships and research funding from national and international agencies, particularly during doctoral and postgraduate research.

PhD-Level Fellowships: Students enrolled in the Full-time PhD in Public Health or Hospital Administration may avail fellowships such as:

  • UGC / CSIR / DST / JRF fellowships awarded by Government of India agencies
  • Central and State Government research fellowships through competitive examinations
  • Sage Fellowship
  • IIPHG Fellowship

These fellowships typically include monthly stipends, contingency grants, and research support, and may offer exemptions from certain institutional requirements as per applicable norms.
