Dr. Mahaveer Golechha
Professor
Dr. Mahaveer Golechha- Professor has a Masters degree in Health Policy Planning and Financing from The London School of Economics and Political science (LSE) and Diploma degree from LSHTM, UK. He is recipient of Wellcome Trust-UKC Master’s fellowship. He also has a Masters and PhD from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi with first Position
He is currently involved in teaching and research activities at IIPH-Gandhinagar. His areas of expertise are Health System and Policy Research, Environmental Public Health, Climate Change and Health and Pharmaceutical Policy and Economics. He led Rajasthan Climate Change project for development and implementation of India’s first Climate Resilience Action Plan for rural settings. Presently, he is also leading climate change and health projects at IIPHG. He is project lead for Rajasthan Health System Strengthening Project of Public Health Research Initiative, DST, Govt of India for carrying out innovative study for evaluating health system building block performance. He has substantial experience in healthcare policy, Climate Change and Health and social development sector, which has involved the following: working at a grass-root level for socio-economic development, public health and poverty alleviation with Rotary and Lion’s International; extensive research at AIIMS, New Delhi, and contributing to Prime minister’s high-level expert group on universal health coverage, social determinants of health, Health System Projetcs and Ahmedabad Heat Action Plan at IIPH-Gandhinagar, and finally, the national rural health mission (Ministry of Health, Govt. of India).
From his education, professional work and experience he has been recognized for his contributions with numerous accolades, namely the Outstanding Public Health Achievement Award by Govt. of Rajasthan, Exemplary Leadership Award, USA’s Alzheimer’s Young Scientist Award, Meritorious Service Award, Rotary Public Health Service Award and Govt. of India’s INSPIRE Fellow Award, amongst other.
