Strengthening Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) in Gujarat
Vitamin Angels collaborated with the Indian Institute of Public Health, Gandhinagar (IIPHG), Gujarat to support in ongoing implementation research in Gujarat, India. The project has been implemented in three implementation research (IR) districts – Bharuch, Mehsana and Surat of Gujarat. The project implementation was supported by Vitamin Angels India, Alive & Thrive, Yug-P, MODE India in coordination with Health an ICDS department of Gujarat.
IIPHG has developed training manuals on MIYCN both for frontline workers and supervisors. We also conducted four days training of trainers for supervisors from Health and ICDS departments of IR districts. IIPHG has trained 30 Supervisors of health and ICDS department from selected blocks of three districts. They were trained technically on MIYCN and various skills like SBCC/Interpersonal Communication and traits required for effective planning and training at field. Who further trained their peers at block level with two days training on MIYCN. Thus, entire capacity building was be carried out under cascade model. IIPHG has monitor 25% randomly selected training batches using monitoring framework to evaluate the effectiveness of the trainings.
